I just had to write this blog! I mean – have you looked into these chocolate-hazel-caramel eyes which melt you heart with their sincerity and innocence?!!! This is Archie – lovable and adorable like the comic character he is named after. Accident prone – no; destructive and carefree – yes!
Archie entered the house amidst a host of protests and objections – all made by “Mumma” since she was just not ready to replace her devoted canine (now departed) with a “newcomer”!! This “upstart” could never fill the void and would be too much work and he has got to go and…………
I heard all this and more when I rushed to meet him – I couldn’t resist after Arjun posted his pic on FB. Tiny little thing, fitting in one hand – he was adorable. But what a Mr. Grumps I found him to be. A very stubborn mind which he fully exercised on us and posed like a teeny-tiny grouch in all the pics we kept clicking. Pooja loves him to death, she is the one who had been prophesying since a year that Archie is going to come soon!!!
Many threats and days later, he is still there; firmly ensconced in the heart and hearth of his new family. My recent visit was a few days ago and I realised how tiny he had been initially, since now he was grown up. When I last saw him, his teddy bear was bigger than him and now……….
Arjun is his best friend and Mumma worries what will happen when he goes back to school. Apparently Archie suffers separation pangs if Arjun steps out of the door to meet a friend. Sleeps on his bed and tried to eat his socks and jeans and whatever else – with Arjun, sky is the limit for Archie. And he takes his after lunch snooze in Arjun’s room.
BTW Mumma is converted now. She wants all his pics to be on her phone, can’t stop talking how other cocker spaniels dont hold a candle to hers and loves to hear that her doggie is so good-looking!! She even comments on all his pics. Sigh!! He loves you too Mumma !!!
