TWO SONGS

Melodies hold the power to sway the mind heart to its tune and take one back to a day or moment or even remind of a person from way back in the past. I love listening to music and need the background sound in the house the whole day; I am addicted to the radio as a result – a throwback to my childhood as it used to be a constant sound in the house. I normally love old Hindi movie songs for their rich musical composition and lyrical poetry – all sung in an amazing voice of that era. Listing two songs is tough; so listed the ones with the most powerful memories for me.

  1. Freedom by George Michael must be my first “teen” song that I heard on the telly while viewing a Grammy award presentation. And that was it for me from that day! I was in love! The way his blond hair flopped over his forehead and his Elvis like legwork – Yummmm! And the song itself represented in its entirety to me at that phase in life. Even today, when I listen to it, I am flashbacked to that moment in time when I first heard it.
  2. Tujhe Dekha toh yeh jana sanam * is the theme song from one of my favourite movies and it moves me into mushiness to-day. I am waiting for a romance like this song embodies, complete with the sarson ke khet ** and the cowbell!! 😉

What are your favourite medley? What do they remind you of?

* When I see you my beloved is the literal translation of these few first words from this popular song from a golden jubilees movie DDLJ.

** Mustard fields are the favourite for romance settings in Hindi films; the fields are full of yellow flowers clad green stalks of the mustard crop and is pretty picturesque.

  1. I have a number of favorite songs, depending on my mood. When I was younger, my favorites may have been love songs, or songs of angst. Today, my favorite is more into hard rock, such as ‘Square Hammer’ by Ghost. Not a love song, but I love the chorus.

    1. I know what you mean Alana. I chose these as they have the strongest memory association for me down the years…
I haven’t heard this song, but then am not into hard Rock at all.

  2. two songs? ok, really rethinking working on this challenge now..
but i do love #2 you have listed.. as for #1, am sure i would have heard it but not sure on the other hand so will go take a listen now
