#MondayMusings, Gratitude List, New Post

#Gratitude- As Sheldon would say it, Bazinga!!!

Bazinga has really become quite the buzz word for me as I have fallen inextricably in love with the TV series – The Big Bang Theory. I am a little late to the party. Nevertheless, am making up for the lost ground by binging on the episodes on Hotstar. In case you havent watched it, a few of the channels are playing re-runs of it. Its a quirky version of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. in a nerd universe.

What does Bazinga mean? Its the geeky, nerdy Sheldon’s way of saying “Gotcha” and “Yes” as he loves to have the last word in any conversation. It best describes how the month of August 2019 has been for me.

♥ Unexpected treats ♥

The best thing that happened in August was meeting up with Parul, a fellow blogger. We have been online friends for a while now and it was an absolute smasher to meet her in person. Warm, effusive and oh so down to earth, she was every bit the delightful person I imagined her to be.

It began to pour heavily just as I started driving down to meet her. I had to stop on the roadside and wait out the downpour which by the way, was simply awesome. It has been so long since I sat and watched rains like this. Bazinga!

August was also the month for unexpected gifts as my dad sent me a voucher for shopping at Westside. Darn! I do love these loyalty schemes on credit cards. I shopped to my hearts content and was thrilled to see them use paper bags. These were on a payment basis-this move is certainly for the good of the environment. I am happy to see such a huge corporate house investing in the future of the planet. Bazinga!

I treated myself to the infamous Hot Chocolate Fudge from Nirula’s after ages; it was as decadent and yummy as ever. Some days it just pays to get out of bed 😉

Its been two years since I went Zero Waste for Rakhi. I dont send rakhis anymore to my brothers, preferring to call and chat with them. Three of them called me before I could call them, it was so good to hear from them. Plus one of them (as always) gifted me a huge Amazon voucher. Yup I will be shopping for some books now 🙂

♥ Bookish notes ♥

I joined in on a fabulous readathon which was initiated by Shantala – a book blogger. The prompts were in sync with Independence day and I had such a fun time doing this. Best part is that I managed to find all the three books from my unread bookshelf. So it was a win-win both ways.

But when it came to reading one more book for the challenge, I totally ditched it. Its because I had just received the ARC copy of a fellow blogger turned friend’s debut novel. I managed to read the book in a three hours sitting and now cant wait to attend the book launch. The book is a crime thriller and extremely fast paced.

So even though I read one book out of context, I managed to read 4 books this month. Damyanti’s book was the Bazinga!

♥ Green efforts ♥

I have been making conscious green efforts in my daily routine and began to make Bio Enzyme a few years back. Its an organic cleaner which has replaced most chemical cleaners in my house. I just harvested a huge batch of it and decided to share with my fellow residents. I was amazed and delighted to note how many people wanted to try it. Next month, shall try to give out more bottles.

I attended one more tree planting drive in the colony and was happy with the turn out and enthusiasm of the people. This month the rains have been plenty and hopefully all these trees will find fruitful grounds in our colony.

♥ From My Kitchen ♥

I havent been that active in the kitchen this month but still managed to dish out some surprises. Best part was the cookie baking I got into and ended up parceling some to friends and family.

♥ Blogging news ♥

I finally hit the writing mojo and managed to put up 7 posts this month on the blog. The best part was the #WordsMatter bloghop that put my star on the map. I was totally blown away by the feedback on the post I did for it. Not only was it gratifying but hugely ego boosting too.

Two blogger friends find special mention as they took out time to message me privately over my writing ennui. I am so blessed to have friends like this and thank the universe for putting them in my orbit.

Motivated, I had dared to join up on the TOI writing contest but at the last moment chickened out in submitting my story. Kicking myself over it now and its made me more determined to take part for September’s prompt. Bazinga!

Intrigued? Pin it for later!

♥ Health & Fitness ♥

Health has been overall good though I have been lacking in the fitness workouts. I am just not in a mood to kick ass though I desperately need to. Fingers crossed the listlessness has lessened and I will head back to my favorite gym in this month.

Well that’s all the news from my August 2019 and I look forward to reading yours too. Somehow these gratitude posts have made us into closer online buddies. We get to exchange so much about our lives-Bazinga!

  1. I love how your post is brimming with positivity, Shalz. You’re so multi-talented! Two of your posts in August really resonated deeply with me and I felt that I got to know and appreciate you so much more through them. More power to you for being so authentic and fearless.
    Keep well!

    1. Thanks so much Corinne! That truly feels awesome to hear. I am glad to find my writings finding resonance. You will enjoy my future monday posts too as I have been really pounding the keypad to etch out my angst with so many things that are wrong in our country and society and within ourselves too. Thank you for being so genuine in your feedback – Hugs!!!

  2. I’ve read Sheldon so many years ago that I can’t remember what Bazinga is. Pray do enlighten me….Hopeyour September is just as productive as August was.

    1. Bazinga means Gotcha as understood by Sheldon who is the lead protagonist of the series The Big Bang Theory!! Its a brilliant laugh riot and you mucst watch it Sunita 🙂

        1. Yes and it’s got 12 seasons. It’s fantastic and available on hotstar. Do watch it if you can. Comedy central and See cafe is showing reruns of it too

  3. I just checked your post on bio enzyme. It’s so easy to make. Will give it a try.
And you met Parul! that’s so wonderful 😀 Two fabulous bloggers together 😀
I watch BBT all the time on netflix. Like Friends, it’s our go-to sitcom when you are looking for something light.

    1. Hey thats awesome to hear Raj- thank you for making the decision to go Zero waste. I hope it turns out well. Ping me if you need help with it.

Yeah meeting Parul was a blast for sure. Ditto on BBT – its my favorite thing to watch these days.

  4. That title had me smiling right away. I’ve been watching BBT for sometime now and it’s my goto comfort watch. I do love Sheldon but my heart completely beats for Leonard.
I’m glad you had a good month. Meeting Parul must have been wonderful and that hot chocolate fudge makes my mouth water. It brings memories of my very first job when a treat meant going to Nirula’s. While on food, I love the look of your cookies and your pasta. I hope I’ll get to sample it some day soon.
Good luck with the contest. Do go for it without a thought of winning or losing and you’ll be good.

    1. I love Sheldon and his Bazinga is the cutest. Leonard is a sweety too and after Penny, he is my next favorite character. Parul is quite a delightful person to meet and I am hoping we get to meet soonest too Tulika. As for the cookies, send me your address please. I shall mail you some pronto.

Yes I will definitely try and write the next one and enter it. Feeling quite foolish as I wrote the story but didnt submit it.. Shall post it on my blog soonest 🙂

  5. Looks like I haven’t joined the party yet on BBT. Must undo it soon. Also, my son has been asking me to watch How I Met Your Mother. Somehow, I have been only watching thrillers. I haven’t seen Sacred Games 2 as yet either. So happy to read about your month, Shalz! Great that you and Parul met. Parul is such a warm and wonderful person. I can totally understand how you guys felt on meeting. So glad to read about your environmental efforts. You are such an inspiration. I barely make enough bio enzyme for my consumption and here you are making so much to distribute. Kudos! Did I tell you that I got Rain water harvesting installed. That meant clearing my rooftop of my beloved plants but I will utilize other spaces for that gardening. Currently, I am just happy that I will be able to harvest rain water considering how severe the water crisis is. I have to read more for sure. Have a wonderful September.

    1. Wow oh wow on the rainwater harvesting. I did read your tweet on it and am sorry you had to lose out on your green space for the plants. But the amount of water you will be saving is a huge plus-so proud of you Rachna.

I just seem to have put in too many containers of BE and now that its started, I dont want to throw it away. I use it quite liberally in cleaning the bathrooms, kitchen counters, tiles, glass panes and of course mopping. I love using it and now experimenting a recipe for cleaning utensils. My maid is none too happy with that but now I want to take out the chemical dish soap outta the house

August did turn out to be a breeze, considering the down in dumps that I had been experiencing since a few months. It feels good to be up and about and pushing on my goals.

Thanks so much for reading and letting me know your thoughts Rachna!! 🙂

  6. I am re-watching TBBT! I binged on it all of August and got nothing done! Looks like that part of the month was similar for both if us <3

That bio enzyme! Tell me more, I'm developing an organic fetish and I need everything natural around me now.

You and Parul, two of my favorite ladies! I so wish I was around too, but we'll meet soon, I'm sure <3

    1. Oh I have so fallen in love and awe of Sheldon; I wish they had hooked him up with Penny. It would have been disastrously funny!! I love both of them though Leonard too is such a sweetheart.

Bio Enzyme is an organic home cleaner, very easy to make at home, I have done a post on it too which you would find on my blog. Start making it Somz- you will thank yourself for chucking away all the harmful chemicals from your home.

I wish you had been around too Sweetheart- we will meet soonest!! Universe is listening 🙂

  7. Yay for Big Bang Theory 😀 Finally finished watching all the seasons last month thanks to Hotstar.

You’re so inspiring! A bio enzyme workshop! Wow! We do our little bit at home in terms of waste segregation, but that’s it 🙂

And don’t think too hard about the submissions. Go ahead and send them in. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Parul is the sweetest ever 🙂 One day, we shall meet too. I am certain of it. Have a lovely month and rest of 2019 Shalz. Good to see you back to blogging.

    1. Yes thank god for Hotstar – I am on Season 4 though I stumbled onto it via season 5 & 6 on one of the TV channels – so once I finish 4 I will straight head for 8. I am very grateful for these streaming channels which allow such entertaining watch for us. Happy to see some quality serials being put out there by Indian industry too.

I know what you mean about the submission; kicking myself over it now. Next one will surely send it in. Thanks for the encouragement:-)

Bio enzyme is something after my heart- I wish I could convert more and more people to it. Its so simple to make, easier than composting at home. And the feeling is so wonderful. I wish our Municipal would be as strict about garbage segregation as Mumbai and Bangalore – its still all on paper here in Gurgaon and the landfills are over and done with. So the roadsides are getting the heaps piled up daily! Its such an eyesore here.

Yes One day we shall meet too – its on my wish list since the longest time! Thank you for stopping by 🙂

  8. Aha!! TBBT is our favorite and we have watched all the seasons and love watching its re-runs too. It is aired on Comedy Central from Mon-Fri at 9.
So good to know about the happy and positive happenings in your life. You are doing a great job with bio enzyme and tree plantation drive. Shopping with vouchers is cool. Incidentally, I shopped at Westside last week with vouchers too.
Have a great time and take care. Cheers!

    1. Yeah I started out with that and am now watching it from the beginning on Hotstar- I am quite in love with it. Thanks for the encouragement Shilpa – hopefully more and more people will realise the need to go organic and stop the use of single use plastics. The garbage situation is as scary as the deforestation one and will eventually wipe us all out if we are not careful!
      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  9. When am I going to get to meet you??? You inspire truly girl. I love your bioenzyme concept. Have you got a detailed post done? Trying to look it up on your blog… And I am so happy to read your posts on Words Matter they are a delight to read. Why and why did you not be a part of TOI? YOu should give it a try.

    1. I know re – I have been wanting to meet you too. Universe has a very large list of all the blogging friends I need to meet – fingers crossed it happens soonest. Sent you the link for the Bio enzyme post- do make it and ping me if you run into trouble. I am having a workshop at my home today and tomorrow to teach peeps to make it. I will be happy to convert more people into using this.

Thank you for the kind words on my writing; yes this month around I am going to do the needful for the prompt as soon as it opens up. Wish me luck!!

  10. Awesome to meet another blogger friend! I hope, you enjoyed the book readathon. I was tempted to attempt Shanthala’s readathon, but way too busy in the last month.

    1. Thanks Ramya – the feeling is mutual 🙂 I loved Shantala’s readathon and am looking forward when she does another one – join in then if you are free!!
